Growing up aroundentrepreneurship.
2005 / MY FATHER STARTS GUANG TENG
In 2005, my father left his role as Central Taiwan Regional Manager at Dynamic Medical Technologies to start Guang Teng. He built a one-person business in medical aesthetic laser repair and equipment rental.
The early years were difficult. Income from the business supported our family and helped my father raise three children. Growing up, I often heard my father share his ideas and experiences of entrepreneurship. He encouraged us to start businesses of our own. Those conversations stayed with me when I later started Neu Project.
2022 / JOINING GUANG TENG
After graduating from National Taiwan University with a degree in Economics in 2022, I returned to the business that had supported our family. My role connected commercial decisions with front-line service : contributing to business strategy, leading independent projects, and maintaining equipment at aesthetic clinics and hospitals.
FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE Face to facewith the front line. Leaving the theory-focused world of university, I began to see how business decisions played out in clinics. A product opportunity had to make sense for the customer; a sourcing decision had to work in daily use. Two projects gave me the chance to turn that thinking into practical outcomes.
FROM OPPORTUNITY TO IMPORT THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX
01 / THE OPPORTUNITY Identifying a better clinic experience. At my father’s suggestion, I explored bringing a Korean cooling system into Taiwan. We saw a customer-experience opportunity: ice compresses could leave moisture on clients’ faces, while a dedicated device could offer clinics a more professional cooling experience. That observation became the basis for the import project.
02 / THE STRATEGY Taking ownership of market entry. I negotiated directly with the Korean supplier and coordinated with a customs broker to manage pricing and customs clearance.
03 / THE ACTION Delivering the import project. I independently managed the import project from supplier communication and price negotiation through customs clearance and delivery, successfully importing a Korean cooling system and obtaining a medical device license in Taiwan.
01 / THE PROBLEM Recognizing a barrier to repeat business. Imported tubing for our smoke evacuators carried high freight costs because of its size and volume. Even when clients’ tubing was visibly dirty, the replacement price made it difficult to recommend a new tube. I saw an opportunity to make replacement more affordable and develop consumable revenue.
02 / THE STRATEGY Rethinking the sourcing category. I searched for domestic single-use respiratory tubing already supplied for medical use, expanding the search beyond the original product category. I measured inner and outer diameters for dimensional compatibility and considered how to adapt the different connector and explain the change to clients.
03 / THE ACTION Turning a sourcing idea into revenue. An initial order of 500 tubes put the sourcing strategy into practice, adding consumable revenue to the business.
~97% Lower reference price

BUSINESS STRATEGY / TRANSFORMATION PROPOSALS Exploring the next chapterof the business. Working in the family business also prompted a broader question: how could its technical expertise and industry relationships support new sources of growth?
I developed several business transformation proposals, including a model that combined beauty training with equipment and consumable supply. The idea was to connect what we already had—equipment, industry contacts and practical experience—with aspiring beauty professionals looking for a route into the industry.
The proposed model brought together external instructors, equipment-supported courses and Instagram-based customer acquisition, with potential revenue from course fees and ongoing equipment and consumable sales. It remains a direction for future consideration.
A VENTURE OF MY OWN Starting Neu Project was my way of stepping outside the comfort zone of the family business and testing myself as an entrepreneur. Alongside my role at Guang Teng, I wanted to take responsibility for a venture of my own, from the first idea to its day-to-day operation.
